Copyright in higher education

Copyright, as a teacher you will have to deal with it sooner than you think. This library guide gives you a handle.

What are Open Educational Resources?

In addition to copyrighted work, much material is also available with an open content license, such as Creative Commons.

Referred to as Open Educational Resources (OER) these are educational (digital) materials that you are free to use. Reuse by others is also permitted. This ensures that the material is easy to adapt to your own needs. The material may also be shared outside the classroom. OER materials include teaching materials as well as complete courses, modules, textbooks, tests, software and other tools, materials or techniques that allow access to knowledge.

With OER materials, you are not restricted by standard copyright regulations or by the -wider- agreements in the Easy Access regulations. The licenses specify exactly what you are allowed to do with the material.
